About Shiva Salehnia
I want to write to you about Shiva so that you can get to know her better. If you ask me to introduce a title somewhere, I will say "destroyer and creator". This title describes how I place my position in life and the purpose I pursue in my life. I don’t know whether I have been able to reach this position or purpose or not. Anyway, , at the office, I have had many temporary job titles: researcher, translator, engineer, strategic planning expert, service designer, etc. But you can leave all these titles aside, read the text below, and give me a title yourself.
I am often a patient, active listener
If you see me in a session, you will see a quiet lady who is just listening.
But if, after everyone has finished talking, someone asks my opinion about the things I heard, two things may happen:
My mind is constantly analyzing
I. They find out that I wasn’t daydreaming all this time, but I was busy analyzing what I was hearing.
II. They frown because, while my words connect to their thoughts, they probably don’t like what I’m saying because it’s most likely about a void, a danger, or, in my opinion, an illusion that they haven’t noticed until that moment.
I am honest in giving feedback
I don’t like to getting on someone’s nerve, but this point of view has come to me over time by going through different intellectual paths, and now it doesn’t seem very separable anymore 🙂. However, I am always practicing to see the positive aspects too, and when I praise something, it means that I think it is really exciting and correct and not out of a fake compliment.
Also, I am constantly looking for feedback
If we become friends, over time you will understand how much I like diversity in my personal and work life. It is invaluable to have the chance to constantly “be curious” and participate in “innovation”. The combination of these two polar stars has been in my life and has made me choose different fields and jobs, and this enjoyable process is still going on. In this process, I have used many precious feedbacks of others to shape the rest of my path.
Sometimes I completely changed my direction
Courage to try new paths
I studied industrial engineering, followed by an M.B.A. In these two fields, I did various short projects and part-time jobs during my student days and a little later. I tried to start two small businesses that failed.
Sometimes my concentration was too long
Service design, from internship to teaching
In search of success in entrepreneurship, I found the service design field. I stayed in this field for a while and remained concentrated on it for 8 years. First as an employee in a business accelerator, then as a co-founder of a service design agency, then as an internal manager trying to shape a service design team in the heart of a large organization, and finally as an independent consultant who sometimes teaches this subject in workshops.
I am seeking new opportunities for creation
Business anthropology and new media
In recent years, I took a step towards learning and doing business anthropology, which is still going on. You can find out more about this experience here. Also, recently my efforts have been focused on the field of Extended Reality. I intend to spend the rest of my career path as an experience creator and storyteller (or maybe a transmedia storyteller) in the new media and entertainment field.
Life is interesting in its variety of experiences
What's going on here?
On this website, I am going to write about my job experiences in the fields I chose to focus on, and of course I will write about the various experiences of my life in general. So, if you once saw an article about embroidery, playing an instrument, memories of participating in a fantasy character design workshop, and the like, don’t think you’re on the wrong website. You are watching the wanderings of a curious person in this big world.
If uncertainties of starting a new service baffled you
I am available for service design consultation
Although I have been away from service design projects as my main focus for some time, and I
use the experience gained from it in new media experience design and business anthropology, I
still provide service design consulting. It seems that after all these years of experience in this
field of work, even if I want to, I cannot completely distance myself from advising in this field.
My former employers and colleagues think that if I do not devote time to sharing my
experience in this field, I have been somehow stingy
